Defined as anything "North of the River" if you live here or are visiting, post your favorites and why if you dare. Spare us the "pathetics", just post your best picks, for example, some of our favorites are:
Rancho Grande HWY 45/Tom Watson just past South Platte fire station: Mexican, what can I say, the place grows on you. Almost always see someone from WL there. Cheap, decent food, chips and salsa free (and addicting). Taco Tuesday a tradition for old timers. Arriba! (can you roll your rrrs?)
Bonefish Grill 64th Street @ the Tuileries: Food always prepared right, presentation nice, seafood a specialty. We often will go and sit in the bar area and graze on apps, BANG BANG Shrimp a must.
Join the fun, we're always looking for someplace new.

Hands down the best meal I've had in KC......Justus Drugstore in Smithville. www.drugstorerestaurant.com was written up in USA Today in '07. I was on a plane and thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.
It's not a fast evening........i think our night lasted three hours... Tho not due to bad service, it's because it's all about the food and dining experience. Think Top Chef in quaint Smithville. Very modern decor in a redesigned old drug store. I think the chef was trained in France.
You need to make reservations WAAY in advance tho. Prices are very reasonable for such a fine dining experience. I think there was four of us and we got out of there for $110 and we all were drinking. Don't quote me on that tho. Just call the rest. and ask avg. entree price. Check out their menu on the website.
Yucko to Rancho Grande, greasy, greasy...If you like Mexican, you should try Agave. Good clean Mexican!! Great Margaritas too. The owner comes from California and knows Mexican food!! The guacamole is the best I've had and is made to order. We have been waiting for a place like this. It is located around the corner from Nick & Jakes.(another decent and fun place to go) Try it and I guarantee you'll go again and again.
Craving NY-style pizza? You're in for a BIG surprise. However, i mean the AUTHENTIC pepperoni pies that seem to slide on top of the crust. No sweet sugary sauce. Foldable crust. Those from the East will understand. We've been trying every place in town who claims it, and NO ONE comes close.
Are you ready for it? U-Gene's. Two locations. One closest to Weatherby is in the gas station across from the HIlton by the airport...Scary thought, I know. Took me a couple of times to get used to it, but we usually order to go. The other is in Riverside in an old QT store (across from the skating rink). This location is more of a dine-in type joint.
Anyway, if you can get past the thought of a gas station, and want that distinct East Coast flavor. Try it. I haven't ordered anything but good old pepperoni, so i can't vouch for anything but that. Prices are reasonable. Fresh ingredients. Often give you a coupon each time you come.
Give it a shot if you dare!
