Crown Center, HQ for Hallmark Greeting Cards, has shopping, dining and hotels. The Hyatt and the Westin are located there and fine dining including Benton's and Morton's at the Westin, Skies top of the Hyatt and Peppercorn Duck Club at the Hyatt (One of my favorites). My favorite restaurant is The American Restaurant just off the shops of Crown Center. James Beard award winning chef. On a per diem or limited expense account?...move on. It is very good. I am certainly available for a personal guided tour of the establishment...your treat!

Shopping in Crown Center, well it is there, I'm just not a shopper. See the listing of stores. Hall's is an excellent store if not pricey, shop the sales.

Union Station is across the street from the Westin, restored and beautiful, worth going over there just to look up and go Ooouuu! While you are there you can eat at Pierpont's, very good food. Speaking of Pierpont's, it is owned by Rod Anderson, who also owns the Hereford House, just a block north of the Westin. A KC institution for steak. Update 10/24...Arson struck the Hereford House this past weekend, extensive damage, return unkown.

Two blocks north of Crown Center and one block west is the area known as the Crossroads Art District, see the link above for a walking tour. Restaurants there as well, Lidia's (the well known Italian American chef) is a favorite of locals, it is in the Freight House area.

Heading south you will find Gates BBQ at Main and Linnwood, one of many great KC style BBQ spots. Always a big discussion among locals who has the best BBQ, Gates seems to be a finalist in many folks ranking
